Both men and women practicing a self-satisfaction at a mature age. Unlike men, who have been masturbating since the youth age, women do this a bit later, mainly after having obtained a sexual experience. There are several types of self-satisfaction at a mature age. The most widespread self-satisfaction is so-called
substituted one. In this case it substitutes the partner; as s/he is unavailable because of some reasons. As a rule, this kind of masturbation is peculiar to the people who have a strong sexual constitution, stand the sexual abstinence with difficulty. From medical point of view this masturbation is considered to be physiological, so there is no necessity of some treatment here.
Another one is an obsessive masturbation. Its characteristic peculiarity is obsessiveness, it is against his/her will, s/he has an inner impulsive drive which makes him/her satisfy him/herself. Even after marriage the person doesn’t stop being occupied with self-satisfaction. And even the absence of desire, erection, and orgasm doesn’t become the reason of rejection of self-satisfaction. The person is engaged in this phenomenon without realizing why, for what. Such kind of satisfaction is considered to be pathological and is met under psychic disorders as one of the disease’s main signs. Self-satisfaction of married men and especially women not always has an abnormal character. For example, the women who don’t feel orgasm during sexual intercourses apply to masturbation in order to free themselves from the heavy sense of sexual intensity. We mustn’t consider such kind of satisfaction pathological. Or, for example, in case of incompatibility of sexual constitutions, the partner with a high sexual constitution applies to self-satisfaction in order to fill the excess of the sexual demand. It shouldn’t be considered to be as an abnormal phenomenon. The women, who go to self-satisfaction in an effort to reveal their own sexuality or for the sake of sexual independence, don’t go out of physiological frames either.
